Analytics & session replay

We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. This includes:

• Pages you view and links you click.
• Your device type, browser, screen size, and referring site.
• An approximate, city-level location derived from your IP address (we do not store your full IP for our own use).
• Anonymized session recordings of on-page activity (mouse movement, scrolling, and clicks) that help us see where the interface is confusing.

What we do not record: anything you type into a field — including search boxes — is masked and never captured in session recordings. We do not ask for or store names, addresses, or payment details on this site, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.

Cookies & local storage

PostHog sets a cookie to recognize a returning browser for analytics. Your browser's local storage also holds small preferences such as your light/dark theme choice. These are used only to run the site and its analytics — not for advertising.

Your choices

You can block analytics with a browser privacy setting or an ad/tracker blocker, and the site will still work normally. If you would like us to delete any data associated with your visits, email us and we will remove it.

Data sources on the site

Much of the catalogue data on HoardBase mirrors public datasets from the American Numismatic Society and other institutions under their Creative Commons licenses. That content is about coins, not about you.
